SITA participated in the South Africa’s premier science and technology exhibition the International Science,Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INSITE) – last year June 2008.

INSITE provided an international showcase for innovative science and technology solutions to some of the world’s most pressing social and economic challenges.

SITA showcased solutions for FOSS implementation under the Open Source in the Business banner. It shared the stand with three organisations that exhibited open source solutions. The organisations were Translate.org, a non-profit organisation focused on the localisation, or translation, of Open Source software into South Africa’s 11 official languages; One Laptop Per Child, a US non-profit organisation which creates OLPC XO, an affordable educational low cost, low power connected laptop designed for school children; and Breadbin, the company that manufactures and distribute Freedom Toasters to the tertiary institutions and public accessible places to enable the downloading of free software.
Driven by the South Africa’s National Department of Science and Technology (DST), this event also enabled the demonstrating of the world leading innovation, science and technology.
